The comprehensive examination evaluates the following:

Any cavities

Any infections
The condition of your tongue
The soft tissues under your tongue
Your palate and inside your cheeks
The condition of your lips
The condition of your lymph nodes
The quantity of saliva
Your breath, for halitosis
Occlusion (how your teeth fit together, with your jaw closed)
Your ability to chew and to open and close your mouth
The condition of previous restorations (amalgam, composite, crowns, etc)
The condition of dental prostheses
The condition of dental implants
Radiographs (x-rays)
Your medical history:
Your general health and any specific precautions
Medications you are taking
Allergies
Risk factors (diet, smoking, drinking, etc)
